For those unfamiliar, the GR Yaris, part of Toyota’s Gazoo Racing lineup, is a high-performance sports car unveiled in early 2020. Built on a newly developed platform, it boasts a lightweight body, advanced aerodynamics, and a potent engine. Initially featuring the world’s most powerful three-cylinder production unit, recent enhancements have increased power by 19 DIN hp and torque by an additional 30 Nm, reaching a maximum of 280 DIN hp and 390 Nm.
This performance upgrade solidifies the GR Yaris’ dominance in its class, offering an authentic race car experience on the road. Strengthening the car’s lightweight body by around 13% through increased spot welds and 24% more structural adhesive improves yaw response, steering feedback, and grip feel, enhancing an already taut and rewarding chassis.
